An Italian Jewel by Shue13 An Italian Jewel by Shue13
Back from my trip to Florence in Italia I shot so many awesome landscapes and textures that inspiration came naturally on this one. I called it "An Italian Jewel" because this city is a real jewel as such. This Matte painting is a combination of several pictures of the "Duomo" and the city in the morning.
Many things have been repainted, houses, trees, backgrounds and mountains, all generated in PS3, no 3Ds. All stocks are mine, textures, plane, pics etc...
I hope you guys will enjoy it.
Comments and favs always welcome!
Viva Italia...!

Your use of color is warm and very vibrant and your work is full of interesting details. I am not qualified to critique your work; I have neither the talent nor the training. I can tell you, however, that I like this piece very much and would buy it or one like it to hang in my living room if I could afford it. Please continue your work. I plan on looking in again.

Amazing. The matte texture gives it such a gritty yet classy look and brings out that realist significance in the event portrayed in the picture.

Cheers :)

no problem, you deserve it ^^ May I know how did you make it? only using photoshop brushes or there are some special brushes for texture or else? sorry, but I want to know, I really want to learn how to make some sci-fi landscape arts... >.< but it is alright if you want to make it as your secret technique.. :) thank you..

He he! no brushes have been used! I just almost repainted everything over the photos I mixed and melted together with a simple choke brush. You pick the color and paint similarly and used different gradient, shadows and stuff to add contrast and details (which is the true core of Matte Painting). As regards the sci-fi elements, it is all made in photoshop with just a marble texture and many layers. A bit hard to explain, there are plenty of tutorials on deviantart to learn how to make some cool planets!
What you need to know is having a really good photo at the beginning is very important. a low quality pic or a scene not really interesting from the very beginning will quite complicate your task. cheers for your support!
