For this work I think of a war, a war between angles and demons where one solitude winged figure is scouting around the fortress of their enemy, trying to perceive what they are exactly up to. This work tells a story and I believe that the focus of that story lies in the contrast between the winged figure and the fortress through colors and form. The winged figure is subtly portrayed clad in gold and blue whereas the fortress/tower is predominately black red and hues of orange. A crackling energy originates from it's base, it's sharp piercing shapes and colors instantly makes myself associate this structure as being inherently evil. Saying this however the structure reminds me of the tower of sorcery (Minas Morgul) as portrayed in peter Jackson's the Lord of the Rings the Return of the King as well as bearing striking similarities to the structures found in Oblivion in the video game Elder Scrolls iv. I find the work to be unoriginal, I would like to stress however that this does not take away the beauty of the image and that in today's art world inspiration is not a crime.

The artist has clearly put a lot of effort and thought into this composition. the artist has painstakingly composed the different elements of this image perfectly. The most striking feature however is the sense of depth the artist as given this work, from the out of focus foreground layers to the distant fading structures, it truly makes this feel like a grand scene from a blockbuster film. If I were forced to find a fault (In my opinion) within this image, I would defiantly choose the atmosphere. As it is now the image is great. Molto Bene! However I believe that there should be more of an interaction between the tower and the atmosphere, perhaps a more prominent faint red highlight caste from the energy at the center of the tower onto the clouds to put emphasis on the amount of energy.

All in all this is without a doubt, one grand, fantastical work, that is a great re-interpretation of the 'evil tower' cliche.
